Village Vision
Concerning all Villages within Lower Providence : Audubon, Evansburgh, Eagleville
5/9/04 - We have already collected about 1,100 signatures against such a proposal while supporting good village development. The Planning Commission will discuss it on June 9, 7:30. We need massive support to reject this devastating proposal! Also, a public hearing by the Board of Supervisors is scheduled for June 17, 7:30, Township Building. We really need massive support at this meeting to reject this devastating proposal! Please plan on attending!
6/17/04 - Board of Supervisors Meeting 7:30 Township Building (this will be a public hearing for the VC Ordinance & the Willow Street corner property from R2 to VC)
Yet another VC Ordinance: New! The Supervisors have proposed yet another version of VC zoning and now it has been gutted to the point of destroying our villages! This version is worse than the December version! This version changes very little from the December version except it allows banks to tear down historic buildings!
6/18/04 - Zoning Hearing Board 7:00 Township Building
(continuance fo the hearing for the appeal on the 12/18/04 approved ordinances)
05/05/04 - FLP RECAP OF THE ZONING BOARD HEARING CONCERNING FRIENDS OF LOWER PROVIDENCE'S APPEAL OF THE VILLAGE COMMERCIAL ORDINANCE PASSED ON 12/18/2003 : Minutes submitted by Sylvia Schelly
Mr. Onorato represented Lower Providence Township at the hearing. At the beginning he requested that this hearing be continued (postponed), because at the Board of Supervisors meeting, Thursday May 6th, the township will be deciding to advertise a new ordinance that would make this hearing unnecessary.Gil High, the lawyer representing the people (us) argued that this is a simple, straight forward case and that we should proceed with the hearing to resolve the appeal. All they needed to do was admit their (the township's) mistake, rescind the ordinance, and we would go away. The Zoning Hearing Board (ZHB) agreed to hear the case. Gil High entered many documents into the record and questioned 3 witnesses, Mike Siegel (the Township planner), Bud O'Hare (the Township Zoning Officer) and Tolson DeSa (the County planner). When it came time for the Township to present their case, they were not prepared to do so and, with 45 minutes left, asked for a continuance of the hearing. The ZHB agreed to continue the hearing to a future date to be decided. Gil High did a great job of representing us. He managed to push several things through that the township resisted. He also told the ZHB that the township had a hypocritical approach to this hearing.
1/17/2004 - Many concerned citizens have filed a formal appeal to the zoning hearing board.
12/18/2003 - The township supervisors voted on 12/18 to pass an ordinance allowing CVS to demolish most of the Inn, put in a CVS Pharmacy and turn Audubon Village into Trooper Road. The ordinance also threatens, Eagleville & Evansburg Vilages. Although the new ordinance has a provision to protect pre-1940 buildings, it has been implemented in a way that does not protect the Audubon Inn from being demolished.
WHAT CAN I DO? One specific thing that you can do is write CVS concerning this Village Commericial zoning issue affecting one the Audubon Inn, one of many village commercial sites that this ordinance change affects.
Write CVS and tell them to build their CVS in one of the townships commercial zones!
